2008-05-081st Rta Fun Hike Held
by Sandra B. Tadeo/ City Information Office The Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) successfully held its 1st RTA Fun Hike over the weekend in consonance with the celebration of the Road Accident Prevention Month in May.
RTA Administrator Filipino O. Amoguis disclosed that the Fun Hike aimed to improve the mental, physical and psychological enthusiasm and stamina of the participants which are key elements in ensuring road safety for motorists and pedestrians alike. The fun hike was participated in by RTA enforcers, volunteer groups, barangay tanods, and transport groups. Team Dog composed of Engr. Arnolfo Taganahan, Federico Jacobo, Myrna Gaabucayan, Ma. Rowena Balibay, Amalia Cababaros, Merlyn Gempesaw, Meralyn Eduria and Olive Jade Villanueva bagged the most number of awards in the fun hike that included the Best in Essay Wring, Highest Score, and the First Team to arrive at the Finish Area. The Most Jolly Team was won by Team Pig composed of Gerald Minister, Lorimer Feliciano, Rico Cajes, Arcely Orilla, Mary Jane Ayudtud, Mariel Pajo, Gary Castor Mercado and Jocelyn Ga; and Team Horse composed of Glenn Lagrosas, Jesus Rafal, Frederick Yap, Emmanuel Akut, Jr., Crisanto Flores, Joseph Dionaldo, Francisco Baloc and Gerge Paulio. Team Snake composed of Armand Olaguer, Noel Clandestine Ponferrada, Rolando Salvani, Arnel Calonia, Arvin Neri, Lorimer Ranario, Enrique Jimenez and Aquilino Ramos, Jr won the Most Disciplined Team while Team Lizard composed of Ret. P/Insp. Romeo Flora, Maxima Hebia, Tomas Torres, Romeo Taruc, Joel Neri and Nerly Torres was adjudged as most participative team. Amoguis hoped that the activity will strengthen the camaraderie and develop esprit-de-corps among the RTA members and other stakeholders in traffic management, as well as heighten the level of public awareness about road safety. The RTA Fun Hike kicked off at the Covered Court of Brgy 24, passing through Agudo Street, Osmeña Street, Borja Street, Velez Street, CM Recto Avenue, Kauswagan Road, Bayabas Road all the way to Bayabas Beach.
