2010-09-08Vye Chairs Newly-formed Disaster Body
by Ian A. Fuentes- City Information OfficeCity Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano has reorganized the Cagayan de Oro City Disaster Coordinating Council (CDCC) to ensure the city’s readiness in times of disasters and/or calamities.
Mayor Emano chairs the disaster body with Vice Mayor Ceasar Ian Acenas as vice chairman. The members are: city social welfare and development officer Marisa Tagarda, city schools division superintendent Dr. Mryna Motoomull, city fire marshall Benigno Amomonpon, city police director Benedicto Lopez, Oro Chamber president Ralph Paguio and ABC president Aaron Neri. Also named as members are the four district executive action officers namely: City Councilors Adrian Barba (District 1), Ramon Tabor (District 2), President Elipe (District 3) and Alexander Dacer (District 4). They are tasked to supervise the disaster operations in their respective districts and the activation of the Barangay Disaster Coordinating Council composed of barangay officials; ronda tanod; school principal, teachers and faculty; midwives and nurses; non-government organizations; radio amateur groups and rescue volunteers. To assist the CDCC in carrying out its duties, functions and responsibilities, eight staff and operation teams are organized for the purpose. The staff teams and their composition are: Intelligence and Disaster Analysis- city police director, team leader; city planning and development coordinator, city building official, city engineer and city local environment and natural resources officer- members. Resource Management- city treasurer, team leader; city budget officer, city general services officer, city accountant and Oro Chamber President- members. Planning and Operation- city administrator, team leader; city social welfare and development officer, city schools division superintendent, city information officer, city engineer- members. Composing the operation teams are: Communication, Warning and Public Information- city information officer, team leader; Comcenter manager, ABC president, SK Federation president and City Administrator (Camelot)- members. Transportation- city engineer, team leader; BAC manager, city public services officer, city equipment depot manager and RTA chairman- members. Rescue, Recovery & Emergency Medical Services- Oro Alert incident commander, team leader; Phil. Rescue 2000 head, city hospital chief, city health officer, city fire marshal and 4th ID Philippine Army- members. Medical and Health Services- city hospital chief, team leader; city health officer, Doctors Care president, Northern Mindanao Medical Center chief and 4th ID Army Station Hospital chief- members. Police, Security and Traffic- city police director, team leader; RTA chairman, ABC president and MASA- members. Acting as secretary and chief operation officer of the CDCC is the city administrator with the City Administrator Office’s staff composing the secretariat. by Lorebeth C. Requiroso/ City Council OfficeMAYOR Vicente Emano is congratulating Majority Floor Leader Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya for his election as the new president of the Philippine Councilors League-Cagayan de Oro chapter.
In a press statement, the mayor said the councilor has proven himself as a good leader and public servant.The mayor also congratulated Councilor Arias Canonigo of Manticao, the new PCL president of Misamis Oriental.“Gawas sa garbo, sila mga kagawad nga masaligan nga tinuod nga nag-alagad sa katawhan,” the mayor added. The election, which was witnessed byAlma Moreno Salic, PCL national executive VP. took place last week. Councilor Alexander Dacer is the new vice president, Councilor Nadya Emano-Elipe, secretary and Councilor President Elipe is the new treasurer. Councilor Emmanuel Abejuela assumes as the auditor, Councilor Dante Pajo,the PRO and Councilor Ramon Tabor, the PCL business manager.Board members are Councilors Simeon Licayan, Alden Bacal, Annie Daba, Alvin Calingin, Jose Pepe Abbu, Adrian Barba, Roger Abaday and Edgar Cabanlas are the chapter board members. (LCR) 2010-09-08Barba Urges Parents To Monitor School Children
by Julius R. Galano/city Council OfficeCOUNCILOR Adrian Barba, chair of the City Council committee on education, is reminding parents and guardians to monitor their school children.
Councilor Barba gave this reminder upon observing that some children that are seen outside the vicinity of their schools even during class hours. He said parents must guide their children and see to it that they are not being lured into activities like gambling, nor playing computer games while classes are ongoing. He said proper monitoring should be done to ensure that they do not skip classes. “As parents, it is our obligation to monitor our children and let them feel that we care for their education for their own good,” Councilor Barba stressed.
