USAID Acting Assistant Administrator for Asia Denise Rollins and USAID Philippines Mission Director Gloria Steele led on June 6 a delegation from the United States Agency for International Development to assess Cagayan de Oro City’s performance on the implementation of its project, Cities Development Initiative.
CDI aims to enhance the city’s business permits and licensing system as an engine for sustainable economic growth, along with other pilot cities of Batangas and Iloilo.
When the group toured the fully-airconditioned Business One-Stop Shop, Ms. Rollins told City Mayor Oscar Moreno that she’s impressed with the progress of the business permits and licensing streamlining project, particularly its automation system and the setting up of billing and queuing kiosks that ensure fast and prompt processing of transactions.
Grateful and satisfied with what she saw on hand, the USAID official, along with Ms. Steele, Mayor Moreno and City Treasurer Dr. Glenn Bañez, even personally handed over a business plate and permit to a surprised businessman engaged in family entertainment and amusement center business who had just secured his business permit.
The implementation of the CDI in Cagayan de Oro is managed and supervised by the Project INVEST office headed by Ms. Eileen San Juan and Ms. Nimfa Along-Albania.
