The City Education and Development Office (CEDO), led by Department Manager Richel Petalcurin-Dahay, officially kicked off the Scholars’ Cup 2026 today, April 8, at Rio de Oro Boulevard, this city.
The opening ceremony featured a symbolic torch lighting and a formal pledge of sportsmanship. Highlights of the kickoff included the "Dare to Dance" competition and the official introduction of the Mr. and Ms. Scholars’ Cup candidates representing various scholar clusters from different barangays.
City Councilor Moreno “Jing” Daba IV, Chairperson of the Committee on Education, attended the event to support the initiative.
This year’s Scholars Cup carries the theme “Building character through sports.”
