CITY HALL, DEPED-ORO DIVISION MEET TO ADDRESS SCHOOLKIDS’ ‘LEARNING CHALLENGES’

A MEETING to address varying challenges faced by Cagayan de Oro’s schoolchildren/students was held Monday, Apr. 27, between Cagayan de Oro City Hall’s education officials and line agencies with the City Division of the Department of Education (DepEd).
 
The meeting held at the City Planning and Development Office Conference room, this city focused on addressing the ‘learning crisis’ faced by the country’s students as reported by EDCOM 2 or the Second Congressional Commission on Education in the Philippines.
 
Created by Republic Act No. 11899 in 2022, EDCOM 2 is a joint body of the Senate and House of Representatives tasked with conducting a comprehensive national assessment of the country’s education sector.
 
The meeting also emphasized a whole-of-community approach and improved stakeholder collaboration to strengthen local implementation of the national government’s ARAL Program or the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program.
 
The proposals will be integrated into the city’s Learning Recovery Plan.
 
Among those who attended the meeting were officials of the Local School Board, the City Education and Development Office, the City Social Welfare and Development Office–Early Childhood Care and Development, and the City Library. (NLB/CIO/photos courtesy of CEDO).
