CITY Hall should augment its support to Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (BDRRM) responders since they are the first line of assistance to the communities, Councilor Al P. Legaspi Sr said on Monday afternoon (June 22).

 

In his special report during the regular Monday afternoon session of the 21st City Council, Legaspi said additional support includes capacity-building programs, specialized training and the provision of necessary equipment to enhance the responders’ effectiveness.

 

Legaspi said many barangays face financial limitations, making it difficult to sustain and motivate volunteer responders. BDRRM responders receive honoraria ranging from P3,000 to P4,000 per month.

 

Under the proposal, additional support equivalent to P2,000 per month may be granted, subject to active membership, compliance with required training, and the availability of funds.
