"We need partners like you to help us disseminate what are the different fair trade laws so that our consumers will be able to protect themselves. Dili man ta maka protekta sa atong kaugalingon kung in the first place we are not informed," DTI Provincial Director Almer Masillones said.

"Although we've been doing this generally to all the consumers from the different sectors, we believe at this time that we will have one for the media partners alone," she added.

Among the topics discussed during the briefing include the Price Act, Price Tag Law, No Shortchanging Act of 2016, and Consumer Act of the Philippines.

DTI-Misamis Oriental also talked about the mandatory products under the agency's jurisdiction and the process flow of DTI's consumer complaints.

According to DTI Provincial Director Masillones, the Fair Trade Laws briefing for the media group can help prevent the spread of misinformation concerning consumer rights.

"This way, we will have the same level of understanding kay usahay ma-misquote ta. This is what we wanted to say and then lahi ang niabot sa uban," Masillones said.
"So we have to know what are the legal basis of what we are saying," she added. (JAS/CIO)
