City Hall readies for Chinese New Year Festival

The City Government and the Filipino-Chinese Community in Cagayan de Oro will be launching its annual Chinese New Year Festival on Monday, January 16, 2023.
 
Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy will lead the launching of the Chinese New Year and Food festival on January 16 at Limketkai Mall as he wanted the week-long festivities to be given a joyous celebration.
 
Among the activities prepared are the Chinese New Year Lion Dance from January 17 to 21; the Lighting of the Chinese Lanterns at the Gaston Park and City Hall on January 20; Mayor's Cup Spring Festival Dragon Boat Race from January 20 to 22; Chinese New Year Festival Fireworks at the Bell Church on January 21; Chinese New Year Festival Motorcade and Chinese Cultural Show on January 22.
 
Students of Kong Hua School and Oro Christian Grace School will also be performing during the opening program of the Chinese New Year celebration.
 
Meanwhile, the Chinese community here in Cagayan de Oro is also preparing to give “tikoy” to identified beneficiaries on January 22 at the Bell Church.
Mayor Klarex will also join in the Mayor's Cup Spring Festival Dragon Boat Awarding and Fellowship Night on January 22.
