City Councilor George Christopher Quijada Goking proposed in a special report in the August 18, 2025 Plenary Session to revisit local ordinances in reference to national laws regulating the use and maintenance of weighing scales (both analog and digital) in public markets.
This proposal was a response to several complaints from consumers and vendors regarding the existence of faulty and defective weighing scales which short change public market goers of their daily groceries.
City Councilor George Christopher Quijada Goking wants to ensure that the 21st City Council will give this matter and others related to this will be given just attention and that sufficient solutions will be provided after due diligence and after official public consultation and brainstorming.
Councilor Roger Abaday supported the proposed ordinance that was endorsed for further deliberations to the committees on economic enterprise, trade and commerce, and consumer protection for committee hearings
