The enactment of a city ordinance establishing Cagayan de Oro City’s Incident Command System was one of two resolutions approved during the third quarter meeting of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council held Thursday (Sept. 18) at one of the city’s resorts.
The full council meeting was presided by Jo May P. Lago, the council’s vice-chairperson for Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery and was attended by key department and security officials including City Director Elaine Josephine B. Depaur of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The CDRRMC also approved a resolution to reorganize the council for wider representation and strengthened coordination.
During the meeting, Fire Senior Supt. John Rey-An G. Donasco of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Cagayan de Oro City Station discussed the challenges facing City Hall’s implementation of Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan, a nationwide information awareness campaign on fire safety.
In response Nick Jabagat, chief of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department (CDRRMD), proposed initiatives to address these challenges.
