Cagayan de Oro City Hall officials heavily promoted the City of Golden Friendship as both an investment haven and viable work-life destination to investors, locators and industry stakeholders of Mindanao during a seminar held Tuesday (Oct. 28 ) at the Chali Resort and Conference Center, this city.
The event was the Board of Investments-Awareness Seminar to Strengthen Investors and Stakeholders (BOI-ASSIST) sponsored by BOI with the Cagayan de Oro Trade and Investment Promotions Center (Oro-TIPC).
Among the participants was Dhonald Sarmiento, Accountant of SPI Power Inc. who thanked Oro-TIPC and the BOI for their valuable inputs on issues like green lanes, importation rules and land conversion. ‘I can share what I’ve learned with the company and my team and apply the best practices we discussed,’ Sarmiento said.
The seminar covered topics like Ease of Doing Business, Fiscal Incentives from Local Government Units, the CREATE MORE ACT (Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy or Republic Act. 12066), Strategic Investment Priority Plan (SIPP), Land Use Conversion and Reclassification, and Customs Administrative Remedies.
City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario Raagas, who represented City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, said they are committed to make Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental province and the rest of northern Mindanao as an investment haven and sustainable living destination.
‘(The Klarex administration wants to make Cagayan de Oro City as the) place where businesses can thrive with confidence, where people can live and work, and where development is felt not just in numbers, but in the improved lives of our citizens. To our partners, daghang salamat sa inyong pagsalig ug pakig-uban (thank you for your trust and partnership),’ Raagas said.
Joining Atty. Raagas were Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer (LEDIPO) John W. Asuncion who fielded questions from the participants in a panel with BOI Investment Assistance Center Executive Director Atty. Bobby G. Fondevilla, BOI Investments Assistance Service (IAS) Director Ernesto C. delos Reyes, and Cagayan de Oro City Councilor George Christopher Q. Goking.
For her part Asst. LEDIPO Raelita E. Legaspi delivered a presentation featuring Cagayan de Oro as a viable investment destination, reinforcing the event theme: ‘Promoting, Accelerating, Sustainable Investment Growth.’
Also in attendance were Asst. Regional Director Almer Masillones of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-10) and speakers from the regional offices of the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF), the Bureau of Customs (BOC), and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
