CITY Hall’s task force on monitoring public use of iodized salt conducted an inspection of commercial food outlets and eateries in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday (Oct. 28 ).
The City Nutrition Committee-City Bantay Asin Task Force (CNC-CBATF) inspected the use of salt, cooking oil, and flour by these outlets to ensure compliance with food fortification standards and nutrition protocols.
About 20 random salt samples were collected for laboratory testing to determine their iodine content and adherence to national nutrition standards.
While on-site, the team distributed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials explaining the ASIN law to food outlet owners.
The City Nutrition Committee- City Bantay Asin Task Force (CNC-CBATF) is composed of various offices tasked to monitor that establishments across the city abide by Republic Act No. 8172, or the ASIN law. (Text and photos by Nica Borja/CIO)
