COUNCILOR Roger Abaday called on the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) to strengthen its enforcement of traffic laws and improve traffic management to reduce the incidence of vehicular accidents that rose last December.
In a special report in last Monday afternoon’s (Jan. 12) regular City Council session, Councilor Abaday said the spike in vehicular accidents were caused by factors such as alcohol-impaired driving, driver fatigue and stress, road obstructions and illegal parking, and unregulated public transport operations.
Abaday told the RTA to pursue such measures as 'Oplan Ligtas Biyahe,' engineering and traffic flow management, and improved public transport visibility.
Abaday said these solutions can help reduce accidents and ensure safer roads for all residents of Cagayan de Oro. (MDS/CIO/Photos by: Jomar Figuracion/CIO)
