WHAT mass transport system would be most ideally suited for Cagayan de Oro City?
That’s the question City Council majority floor leader Edgar Cabanlas hoped would be answered through a multi-million peso feasibility study to be funded by the Swedish government.
‘(I talked with the Swedish ambassador) and we agreed that a representative from the Swedish government will come to the city and we’ll discuss with him/her what mass transport system is best suited for Cagayan de Oro City through a feasibility study (to be funded by the Swedish government),’ Cabanlas said during Wednesday’s ‘Ang Konseho Karon’ program by the City Information Office.
Cabanlas referred to Sweden’s ambassador to the Philippines Anna Ferry, one of 15 ambassadors of member states of the European Union (EU) who visited Cagayan de Oro City last week as part of their Philippine tour. Before being appointed ambassador in January last year, Ferry served in the Swedish Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.
Cabanlas’s disclosure came amid confirmation by City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario Raagas that Austrian and French investors expressed interest in investing in the proposed multi-million peso cable car project by businessman Engr. Elpie Paras that is seen to decongest traffic in Cagayan de Oro City’s downtown and uptown areas./Text by SC with CIO photos by Rod Constantino
