The Department of Health 10 is not yet recommending the suspension of classes after authorities officially declared one confirmed case of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) here in Cagayan de Oro City.
DOH-10 regional director Dr. Adrian Suba-an said that suspension of classes is not yet included in their latest advisory.
“The suspension of classes is not yet part of our advisory as of this moment”, Dr. Suba-an told mediamen during press conference on Thursday, March 12 at Pearlmont Hotel.
For his part, Mayor Oscar Moreno said he will only declare the suspension of classes upon the recommendation of the DOH.
“Unless the health authorities tell me that (suspension), then I will not declare. Mag-agad ako sa health authorities ana”, Mayor Moreno clarified.
“We need to have a good balance, and we can’t afford to be reckless”, Mayor Moreno explained, saying that he is closely following guidelines from the Department of Health, Department of Education and Department of Interior and Local Government in relation to COVID-19.
