In support of the continuous economic recovery of the business sector in the city, Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy graced the opening of the Cagayan de Oro branch of The Mindanao Basket last Saturday morning, October 8, 2022.

The Mindanao Basket offers prime meats, seafood, wines, and dry goods imported from Japan, Australia, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Italy, among others.

 

 

According to Arielle Louise Lu, the owner of The Mindanao Basket, she started as an online seller before putting up a physical store during the pandemic. .

"Before we open the physical store, meron nang online shop si The Mindanao Basket, and we are just selling through our Facebook page and Instagram," Lu said.

With its identity established, several customers patronized The Mindanao Basket as soon as Lu was able to put up her first physical store in Davao.

 

The same could be said when she announced the opening of the Cagayan de Oro branch.

Lu was a graduate of Xavier University in 2016.

 

According to her, she was shocked when she discovered that more people are visiting the uptown area of Cagayan de Oro.

 

This influx of traffic made her decide to put up her Cagayan de Oro branch in SM Northwing.

 

"At that time (in 2016), sobrang mingaw pa talaga sa uptown. And then when I went back here last May this year, na-shock ako ang daming tao," Lu said.

"Karamihan din sa friends ko nagsabi na uptown na talaga ang place to be sa CDO," she added.

 

The Mindanao Basket, located on the ground floor of SM Northwing, is the fifth branch in Mindanao. Lu said the sixth branch, which is in Tagum City, will open soon.

She also plans to expand her business outside Mindanao, preferably in Cebu. (JAS-CIO)
