‘PASKO DE ORO’ WINNERS BARED

The City Government, through the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office, successfully concluded this year's "Pasko de Oro" with the announcement of winners at the City Amphitheater on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.
It’s been two years since the city held face-to-face competitions for the ‘Pasko de Oro’ as they were conducted virtually due to the pandemic.
 
"Being the committee chairman of the Committee on Tourism, dako kaayo ang among kalipay nga nag-celebrate kita sa atoang mga kabibohan sa kapaskuhan," City Councilor Jay Roa Pascual said during his opening message.
"It has been two years since the pandemic. Mapasalamaton kita nga naka-survive kita sa atoang mga challenges nga atong giatubang. Karon dako akong kalipay nga nag-face-to-face na gyud kita nga activity," he added.
City Councilor Jose Pepe "Joey" Abbu Jr. also cited Kagay-anon's delight in being able to gather and celebrate Christmas.
 
"Karon nga tuig, nagpahigayon na kita og panagtapok, makahimo sa mga activities so that our Christmas and our New Year would be merrier and happier," Councilor Abbu said.
During Wednesday's awarding activity, winners of this year's 'Paskorela,' 'Indigay sa Parol,' and 'Christmas Village Around the World' were announced.
 
For 'Paskorela,' Arlyn Mercado won first place, receiving a P55,000 cash prize. Followed by Restie Bernal in second place (P35,000) and Wendell Mercadel in third place (P25,000).
 
For 'Indigay sa Parol,' Barangay Carmen bagged first place, getting a P55,000 cash prize. Followed by the Bureau of Customs in second place (P35,000) and JR Borja General Hospital in third place (P25,000).
For the 'Christmas Village Around the World Competition,' Barangay Tablon was awarded first place with its entry of a beautiful village surrounding the Brandenburg Gate in Germany.
 
The said barangay won a P200,000 cash prize. This was followed by Barangay Carmen (United Kingdom) in second place, and Barangay Camaman-an (Brazil) in third place, receiving P150,000 and P100,000, respectively.
