United States Embassy Consul Michael Leach paid a courtesy visit to City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy Monday morning, March 6, 2023, to discuss the welfare of the US citizens staying in Cagayan de Oro City.

 

According to John Asuncion, chief of Oro Trade Investments Promotions Center (Oro-TIPC) who was present during the said visit, the US consul asked for assurances from the City Government, particularly on times when a US citizen is facing a problem.

 

"Based from their records, medyo marami rin daw ang mga US citizens na nandito. His office is looking out for the welfare of US citizens, kung may problema, pwedeng malapitan, kung sino ang pwedeng ma-contact nila, if somebody can look after them while may problema sila and they are contacting their office in Manila," Asuncion said.

 

Apart from Asuncion, also present during the courtesy visit were Acting City Tourism Officer Rico Libre, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department(CDRRMD) Chief Nick Jabagat, and Rolando Lee III and Jocelyn Salcedo from the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD).
