City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy warmly congratulated a fast-rising young amateur boxer from Cagayan de Oro City Amateur Boxing Team after bagging bronze medal that he won in the recently concluded ASBC Asian Youth and Junior Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan.

 

Mayor Klarex lauded ASBC bronze medalist Ronel Suyom, who met with Mayor Klarex during People’s Day on Wednesday at city hall quadrangle, for bringing home pride and honor to Cagayan de Oro City after his outstanding performance in the highly-touted international boxing competition.

 

However, Suyom’s teammates Raymond Lofranco and Nick Payla did not make it to the podium finish after both fell short during their quarterfinal bouts. The three amateur boxers from Cagayan de Oro City represented Team Philippines in the said boxing tournament.

 

Both City Sports Development Coordinator Romarey Gorro and Team CDO Boxing Head Coach Elmer Pamisa thanked Mayor Klarex Uy’s all-out support to the city’s amateur boxing team, citing that the boxers’ exposure to both national and international competitions will surely polish their boxing skills and abilities, and boost self-confidence as they compete against the ‘cream of the crop’ boxers from all over the world.
